Who We Are
The Great Plains Trails Network is a group of citizens who advocate and support a network of trails in and around Lancaster County, Nebraska, for jogging, biking, walking and horseback riding. The network seeks the acquisition, development and wide availability of trails by:
- Securing funding from public and private sources
- Working cooperatively with governmental agencies
- Lobbying for favorable legislation
- Providing opportunities for persons to learn more about trails, their value and appropriate use
Goals For The Future
The Great Plains Trails Network strives to:
- Support a Master Plan for trails in Lincoln & Lancaster County
- Acquire links to connect existing local trails
- Plan for external trail connections with Omaha and the coast-to-coast American Discovery Trail
- Monitor trail usage
- Work with governmental agencies to improve trail safety and utilization
