Jamaica North Trail SW of Lincoln

Jamaica North Trail

This trail will run from Calvert Street in Lincoln to connect to the Homestead Trail south of Lincoln. Phase I of this project (6.5 miles from Calvert St. to Saltillo) is now open. The Homestead Trail from Saltillo to Cortland is also now open. Phase II of the Jamaica North Trail is the two-mile section that runs north from Calvert Street to J Street.

This northern portion of the Jamaica North Trail links several south-Lincoln neighborhoods to the downtown Haymarket area, thus making it possible for hundreds of downtown employees to bicycle or walk to work. The West A neighborhood will be connected via the A St Bridge; the South Salt Creek neighborhood borders both sides of the trail corridor. As well as creating an essential neighborhood link, this trail will also provide access to Standing Bear and Sawyer Snell Parks, and Sherman Field. As an urban trail, it will have a concrete surface, similar to others in the urban areas of Lincoln.
