Past Projects

Jamaica North Trail

Phase 1

Fundraising began in 2003 to raise $280,000 for the development of the 6.5 mile trail between Calvert St. and ½ mile south of Saltillo Rd.  These funds along with Federal Enhancement funds provided for the development of this trail in 2006.

Twenty-plus GPTN volunteers under direction from Lynn Lightner installed railings and decking on 13 bridges on this trail.

Phase 2

In 2006, GPTN began raising money for Jamaica North Phase II. $270,000 needed to be raised to match the federal enhancement grant to complete a concrete 10-foot trail from the end of Phase I at Calvert St. to 4th and ‘J’ St.  This stretch is 2.25 miles..

It is a major trail connection of the South Salt Creek and West ‘A’ neighborhoods and downtown Lincoln.  The section between ‘A’ St. and ‘J’ St. along 4th St. was completed in 2008.
